This is one of the biggest tragedies ever to air events. It happened yesterday afternoon (local sushi samba time) in Reno, Nevada, during the homonymous away matches there, with a modified P-51 that crashed sushi samba and crashed in front of one of the big rigs when the pilot lost control. According to the latest report, but not the final addition to the pilot, were tragically killed two of their fans, at least twenty seriously injured and 60 others lighter. But there are fears that the death toll will rise as many of the wounded, who sat in the first row were hit by pieces of the plane and transported in critical condition in hospital.
The plane was flying veteran pilot Jimmy Leeward, 74 years, one of the most experienced air racers in the world, having protoparei raced in 1976. The P-51, known as Galloping Ghost was a P-51D Mustang originally built in 1944 (S / n 44-15651), but was modified to take part in competitions, both in engine and aerodynamic improvements.
